Windows 7 is…
The next release of the Windows client operating system, built on the secure foundation of Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. Performance, reliability, security, and compatibility are core basics of this release as we give our feedbacks to their goals. From early accounts by those using Windows 7 pre-beta and beta releases, Windows 7 is running pretty nicely on older machines with less powerful processors and less-than-optimal memory. In fact, as has been noted over the past few months, Windows 7runs well on netbooks that havn’t been able to accommodate Vista.

It will be interesting to see whether Microsoft offers users the option to upgrade directly from XP to Windows 7 -- or whether it will only offer upgrades from Vista to Windows 7 – once Windows 7 released in final form. The question becomes even more pressing given that Windows XP will likely be a bigger competitor to Windows 7 than any other operating system out there.

We were afraid Microsoft will try to sell Windows 7 on the multitouch pitch alone but are, in fact, pleasantly surprised with the implementation. There is an on-screen virtual keyboard and gestures for common mouse actions, like dragging and right-clicking, that work throughout Windows 7 and applications like paint and Microsoft Earth. Google announced a new AdSense ad format for publishers and advertisers: video. This system is basically still the usually contextually-targeted advertisement by Google, but this time instead of text or image ads, your readers get to videos.

Google video ads only play when clicked, so they won't be an annoyance to readers who would rather see just static pages (i.e., no multimedia).
